You can have a strong product, a good track record and a well-prepared presentation.
You still need to give someone confidence in the people who will deliver.
That matters in any market. When you are entering an unfamiliar one, it deserves particular attention.
Make time for the relationship
It is easy to arrive with a packed diary and treat every meeting as a slot to get through.
Introduce the company. Run through the slides. Ask about opportunities. Move on.
But the other person may still be working out who you are. Are you listening? Do you understand their business? Will you be available when something needs attention? Are you serious about the market?
Those questions are not all answered by a capability statement.
From my own Middle East business development experience, making time beyond the formal presentation can be valuable. A conversation over coffee, a trusted introduction or a return meeting can help both sides understand whether they can work together.
Understand the people in front of you
There is no single set of behaviours that describes every business across the region.
Learn about the country, organisation and individuals you are dealing with. Pay attention to how meetings are arranged, who participates, how decisions are discussed and which communication channels people prefer.
Courtesy, curiosity and a willingness to adapt are more useful than a rehearsed cultural script.
Give every touchpoint a purpose
A relationship might develop through formal meetings, site visits, calls, email, introductions or messaging where that is the contact’s preference.
A quick message may keep contact moving. A technical workshop may answer delivery questions. A return visit may bring the wider team into the discussion.
Repeated contact alone does not create trust. Being useful, keeping promises and showing up consistently gives that contact substance.
At TriBus, our market entry support combines practical regional experience with a structured approach to customer engagement, partner assessment and follow-through. We help businesses understand who they need to reach and how to keep those conversations moving.
If you have the technical capability but need help developing the relationships and route to market, let’s have a conversation. Talk to TriBus.
